As for the other arc I honestly don't care, so I said Original Goku, because Kai dub is consistently good unlike the funi dub where at times it seem like Schemmel had only one take. With Vegeta is seem to be a similar situation to Demon King Piccolo where one of his minion kill his friends,but instead he spare the enemy out of compassion is a great character development even if is by accident. Because Goku actually did try to kill Demon King Piccolo out of anger, but he seem to show a bit more compassion when he fought Piccolo and spare his life not only to fight him again, but because of Kami and the fact that there is some goodness in him. In the original version Goku spare Vegeta because he wanted to fight him again, as opposed to the Funi dub where he spare Vegeta because he saw what he could had been in Vegeta showing compassion, and was a great character development to the character. I personally like Goku Funi dub for the saiyan arc specifically.
This always added to the dub and sub debate, but with Kai being a thing that shouldn't matter, and this is more of a debate on the version you prefer. What is your favorite interpretation of GokuĪs many people know Goku in the funimation dub (Kai went more faithful to the source material) was changed a bit from Japan, trying to be more of a superhero like character instead of a stupid kid in a grown man body wanting to fight, hence why Goku voice sound like a kid despite all his muscle in the japanese version.
